Introduction to Audio Synthesis

A beginner workshop on audio synthesis using real synthesizers. You don’t need to know music or to have ever touched a synth.

We will see how a sound is built from scratch:

  • Oscillators and waveforms: where the sound comes from.
  • Filters: how the timbre gets shaped.
  • Envelopes: how the sound changes from the moment you press a key until you let go.
  • Signal flow: how everything is wired inside a synthesizer.

Then it’s time to play: everyone designs their own sounds on the workshop synths, and we help out when you get stuck.

What you need:

  • Nothing. We bring the gear.
  • No previous experience, just curiosity about sound.

Good to know:

  • There are as many spots as there are synths, so not many.
  • If you sign up and then can’t make it, cancel so someone else can have your place.
